Gabrielle is the founder, director, and lead teacher of Sequoia preschool. She has a Bachelor's in Social Work from the University of Washington and then went on to complete her Master's at Columbia University in New York. Upon completion of University, Gabrielle travelled around the globe for three years teaching and exploring our diverse planet and its people. She has enjoyed 20+ years of working with early learners in both social work and education settings. Before starting her own family she was the Director and Lead Teacher of Arlington Preschool and the Head Start Lead Teacher at the well renowned Denise Louie Education Center in Seattle. Gabrielle is very excited to bring a quality preschool facility to the community of Stanwood and share her love for creative learning with a fusion of teaching styles that has lead to successful and happy children.
Meghan Manger is an amazing and experienced teacher with 15+ years experience working with early learners. She has an uncanny knack to connect with children and families in a genuine and heartfelt way. Meghan's understanding of child development and keen observation of children's strengths and weaknesses allows her to tailor her teaching method to best instruct and nurture each child on an individual basis.
Steph comes to us from Michigan where she spent the last 4 years working as a teacher's assistant in an Early Childhood Special Education program in the Calhoun School District. Besides having a positive and personable personality, Ms. Steph is also experienced in an array of communication and teaching techniques that address a variety of learning styles. She has experience with American Sign Language, CORE, as well as other augmentative and alternative communication systems. Steph's additional experience as a mother of three, provides her with a natural capacity to multi-task and innate classroom management capability.
Jasmin joins us at Sequoia while she works towards her career in early elementary education. Her gentle and clear communication with the children provides our students with a sincere connection that encourages confidence and self- growth in our early learners. Jasmin has many years of experience in Early Childhood Education, including her most recent experience as a Teaching Assistant in the kindergarten classrooms at The Evergreen School. Jasmin is also bilingual in Spanish, which is a treasured resource as we teach the children about diversity and worldly linguistics.
Hannah joined our Sequoia team in May 2023. She is both a current and alumni parent of Sequoia students and an enthusiastic educator. Hannah finds immense joy in teaching and imparting her creative spirit to the children. She has an engaging and empathetic approach to teaching and is a firm believer in cultivating a love for learning through play. Her teaching style helps nurture children and supports them in gaining confidence in order to thrive in their preschool environment and beyond. Hannah will also be taking on the role as our social media liaison this year.
Megan is joining our team at Sequoia with over 10 years experience working with young children. She was a preschool lead teacher at a Waldorf-Inspired Cooperative, a nanny for many years and is also a mother. Her passion for children’s well being and the health of families led her to study holistic nutrition, earning her Nutritional Therapy Associate Certificate in 2022. In addition to some of her early childhood education at Skagit Valley, Megan continues to glean information from all modalities of teaching to expand her teaching toolbox and meet each child’s individual needs. Megan is a nurturing teacher who enjoys providing a calm space for children to feel comfortable. Megan, or Ms. "M", will also be taking on a new role at Sequoia as our snack and nutrition facilitator.
Jeanna has always gravitated towards a life working with children and animals. Although her home life is often filled with the care of animals, horses in particular, she is very excited to grow her teaching experience with the children here at Sequoia. Jeanna has had prior teaching experience at an art preschool in Skagit county as well as coaching experience for a “tiny tots” program related to horses. Jeanna has a knack for staying calm under pressure and paying attention to detail that will prove to be a great asset to our Sequoia teaching team.
Olivia joins us with over 6 years of experience working with children in private and public sectors, including her most recent experience as the Youth Development Professional at the Boys and Girls Club. Her ability to engage, encourage, and empower individual strengths amongst the children is remarkable. Her quick thinking and creative problem solving is a great asset in an active classroom.
Michele joins us part-time as our experienced mentor with 30+ years of teaching experience. She earned her state teaching certificate from WWU and continued on to complete a Masters of Education from Antioch University. Michele began her career with more than a decade of preschool and kindergarten educating at "Creative Montessori" in Bothell. Her passion for hands-on learning and diversity lead her to continue her career at Tulalip and Quil Ceda Elementaries as a valued primary school Montessori educator, teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade for the last two decades.
